COURSE DESCRIPTION
This Tai Chi course examines Eastern concepts of mind-body focus and fluidity of movement. The course
includes Chi Gong and Tai Chi Sword form. Chi Gong underscores the relaxation response for stress
management and maintenance of health and vigor.
Taoist, Confucian, Buddhist concepts shall be surveyed for their psycho-physical applications in
Tai Chi, Chi Gong and the Martial Arts.
MAIN GOAL
The main goal is for the student to learn the choreographic movements of Tai Chi and attain proficiency
sufficient to continue individual practice after course completion.
STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The student will learn the fundamentals of Tai Chi to enable him/her to apply its psycho-physical principles
toward self-betterment and good health.
COURSE FORMAT
Student shall learn Tai Chi by repetitive practice of the progressive intricacies of the instructor’s demonstrations.
Lectures will be given at applicable stages of the course format.
REQUIREMENTS
Examination and essay topics shall be based on lectures and journal notes. Class time will be allocated
for journal entries of learning experiences and self-evaluative insights. Blank syllabus pages are to be

EVALUATION METHOD
The final examination consists of solo performance of Tai Chi-Set 1. This shall constitute 70% of the final grade.
Quizzes, self-evaluative journal and essays shall constitute 30%.
After three (3) absences the final grade shall be lowered by one full grade per absence.
